The Transportation Commission of Namibia within the Ministry of Works has suspended Namibia’s flagship carrier, Air Namibia’s Air Service Licence (ASL).
According to The Namibian Sun, the commission cited safety concerns as well as recent comments by President Hage Geingob that the airline be liquidated.
The suspension is effective from July 8 to 22, 2020.
The airline was granted the ASL by the Commission in April 2020, enabling it to fly anywhere in the world.
The move was aligned with the strategic expansion of the airline in feeding the world with passengers, cargo and related air transport services.
