A number of KwaZulu Natal’s nature and game reserves have been approved for opening under lockdown level 3, Member of the Executive Council for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in the KwaZulu-Natal Province, Nomusa Dube-Ncube has announced.
Dube-Ncube revealed that Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has been gradually opening some of its game resorts in line with the regulations with the public allowed to reconnect with nature, provided they observe social distancing
“Accommodation facilities will remain closed to the public except to those who may be on business trips,” said Dube-Ncube.
The reserves approved for opening are the Didima Resort, Giant’s Castle and Royal Natal at the Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site; the Midmar, Wagendrift, Weenen, Umlalazi, Kranskloof, Kenneth Stainbank and Chelmsford Nature Reserves; Spionkop Reserves, Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park, Umhlanga Lagoon; Ithala Game Reserve a well as all game reserves under the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park.
