NAC closes the Walvis Bay airport

Namibia Airports Company has closed the international airport at Walvis Bay following the announcement by the government for the town to revert to stage 1 of the lockdown.

According to The Namibian, the airport management revealed that if required, their staff would be available for technical, medical evacuations, humanitarian repatriation and United Nations related flights only.

Walvis Bay Airport manager, Chrizelda George, added that such flights would require pre-approval by agencies from the ministry of health, immigration, transport, international relations and the Namibian civil aviation authority.

The Namibian airline, Air Namibia also suspended all flights in and out of Walvis Bay until June 8, 2020.
