Fastjet extends flight suspension period for the second time

Low cost airline, Fastjet Zimbabwe has announced that flights on their domestic route network remain suspended until Wednesday May 20, 2020.

This follows the extension to the lockdown travel restrictions in Zimbabwe.

The airline was supposed to resume operations on May 6, 2020.

According to the carrier’s travel update, the Fastjet flexible booking change policy has also been extended, permitting unlimited changes with no fees customers, till September 30, 2020 for all affected customers on suspended flights.

“This allows confidence and peace of mind in the knowledge that all customers have the flexibility to change their preferred dates of travel for up to five months,” said the airline.

 The initial proposed day for resumption of operations had been April 20, 2020 but it was moved to May 2, 2020 following the extension of the lockdown in South Africa.

Fastjet temporarily suspended it operations from March  27, 2020 .

The suspension followed measures introduced in Zimbabwe and South Africa to control the spread of COVID-19.
