Air Namibia to resume domestic flights

Namibia’s national carrier, Air Namibia, will resume domestic flights from May 6, 2020, the airline announced.

According to a travel update issued by the airline, though all domestic flights will resume on May 6, 2020 all regional and international flights remain suspended until June 30, 2020.

“We are flying again to serve our people,” read the statement.

The flights will be between Windhoek or Eros and Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Luderitz, Oranjemund and Walvis Basy.

According to a report in The Namibian, the airline’s acting general manager for commercial services, Bluemy Hamutenya, stated that Air Namibia would conduct mandatory temperature testing on all passengers before boarding.

“Furthermore, all passengers are expected to wear their masks in public spaces and throughout the flight,” added Hamutenya.

Air Namibia suspended operations  during the lockdown imposed in Namibia  from March 27, 2020 to stem the spread of COVID-19.

Recently, the government of Namibia introduced a four stage strategy to exit the lock down.
