The World Tourism Conference which was scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana, has been postponed, in the face of the rapidly changing COVID-19 pandemic.
This was revealed in an update by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the co-host of the Conference.
“This was a tough call to make, the conference is an incredibly important event for the Africa Tourism Association |(ATA) and a valuable platform to connect with our global community to discuss how to move the industry forward, but we need to prioritize the health and safety of our members, team, partners, delegates and stakeholders,” said the GTA.
The Conference expected to have in attendance Tourism Policy Leaders, national, regional and city tourism officers, tour operators and travel agents, media, travel, lifestyle, fashion, music, art, food and wine influencers, airlines and logistics managers, hotels, hoteliers and lodging establishments as well as investors and financiers, among many.
“Ghana Tourism Authority remains committed to partnering with ATA to host the Conference in Ghana, and together with ATA is currently exploring new dates which will be announced as soon as possible. In the interim, we are collaborating with our partners and planning other ways to connect to the travel and tourism community.”
