The 2020 edition of the Africa Travel Week, which comprises of World Travel Market Africa and International Luxury Travel Market Africa, which was to take place in April this year in Cape Town, South Africa, has been postponed to 2021 following the escalation of COVID-19, confirmed Reed Exhibitions Africa.
Reed Africa said due to the uncertainty in the region and around the world, with many of their clients facing travel bans, they had taken the decision to postpone the event.
“We have had to respond to the current coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and the ongoing conversations with our customers whose welfare is our number one priority,” said Carol Weaving, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions Africa.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected in these difficult times.”
In addition, the Portfolio Director for Africa Travel Week, Megan Oberholzer, said they wanted to thank the industry for their support in these unprecedented times.
“All buyers and exhibitors and industry partners will be contacted in the coming days,” she said.
The show was expected to be the biggest ever on the continent with a number of exciting innovations, hyper focused events and partnerships.
