Despite having recorded no confirmed COVID-19 positive cases, the mountain kingdom of Lesotho will, from March 29, 2020 midnight to April 21, 2020, go into lockdown in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane, has announced.
Only those in essential services including health, security, special banking, grocery shops, water, power, fuel and pharmacies will continue working.
“All security agencies are hereby ordered to immediately enforce the measures meant to stop this disease by controlling the movement of the people,” Thabane said.
Lesotho’s borders with South Africa will be closed during the lockdown but those supplying goods will be allowed in at commercial borders.
