Kruger National Park has just opened its first luxury accommodation aptly named Skukuza Safari Lodge as it built at Skukuza Rest Camp. The 128-room lodge is a three-star facility with a combination of eight luxury suites, standard rooms and family rooms, including universal access rooms.
The lodge opened 30 of its rooms for a test run on the 1st January. The early reviews have been positive.
The lodge was built to widen the guest base for Nombolo Mdhluli Conference Centre whose guests previously had to be housed at the bungalow or more expensive lodges around. The conference center has been underutilized due to constraints in accommodation.
SANParks hopes to attract the local emerging tourist market and also pull international travellers who may not be keen on camping or self-catering.
The lodge has 80 standard rooms, 20 family rooms, 14 universal access rooms and 8 luxury suites.

The Sisonke Bar and Veranda is a well-decorated and relaxing place for those who wish to refresh themselves. There is also an accessible veranda that is adjoined to the bar.

The lodge has a state of the art dining place that serves both a la carte and buffet menus. The spacious and afro-accented dining area blends well into the serene environment of the Kruger Park.

Other amenities include a gym, a post-office at the reception, a service station, an outdoor pool and a curio shop.
